First he was booted off the train at Archway because of someone under a train at Finchley Central. He waited around for a bus (a few packed ones went by).
Half an hour later he calls again. A 134 (TCR - North Finchley) and a 263 (Archway - Barnet Hospital) have collided at Archway and created a godawful mess. The other bus going our way is the single-decker 143 (Archway - Brent Cross); he hasn't got a hope in hell of squeezing on one.
He's now walking up the A1.
I feel so bad that I can't go pick him up (no way in hell am I having my first solo trip in England down the A1 with the baby in tow)
(for the non-Londoners: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&hl=en&geocode=&saddr=n19+5rq&daddr=n3+1pd&sll=51.565437,-0.135101&sspn=0.010057,0.021157&ie=UTF8&z=13&om=1)
ETA: Progress! He's now on a 43 to Friern Barnet. From which he can get a 382 to the bottom of our road... goodness knows when he'll get back though :(
