citizenship changes

They've announced plans to make it even harder to become a citizen (prompting literally 1,000 xenophobic comments on Have Your Say--don't people understand that many non-EU migrants are not coming for employment, they're here on family visas?)

So I finally got off my arse and made the appointment for the Life in the UK test. I take it next Friday afternoon. Woot. I've read the books, and it's a reasonably easy test (although there are some daft questions; maybe I'll post a "best of" later). Hopefully I'll pass it and get it over with.

Yeah, I know I'm leaving, but if we ever come back I'll have to start all over again and pay the government thousands of pounds--no way in hell!

wow

Around 16:00, I saw that Aliza was rubbing her eyes, so I took her off to bed for a nap. She'd had about half an hour's nap in my arms earlier.

She played around for 5 minutes (which is typical, she thinks the bed is a great playground) then, all on her own she lay down and went to sleep!

I read for a few minutes before dropping off myself. When Aliza woke me up, it was 19:00! I can't believe she slept so long.

sigh

I hate this cycle:

1) Aliza fusses.
2) I pick her up.
3) She struggles and doesn't want to be held.
4) I put her down.
5) She bawls.

You don't want to be held, you don't want to be put down; what DO you want? (other than to break my computer)

BBC have your say

Amongst the 1,000 xenophobic comments were people who actually said citizenship should only be available to people of "European Christian heritage". I was ready to puke.
