Was this necessary?

From yesterday's Independent:
"Like many neo-cons, he is Jewish, and a passionate supporter of Israel, where his sister now lives."

Why is his ethnicity/religion relevant? And why are the Indy dredging up the whole Jewish/neo-con thing again? It practically became code for "influential Jews in government" at one point.

flat headed baby

Aliza's developing a flat spot on the back of her head. It's not unusual; the "Back to Sleep" campaign has resulted in an increase in flat heads. She gets plenty of tummy time and I hold her a lot, but she does lay flat in her pram and cot and she's not one for moving her head. Plus, once they develop a flat spot they tend to stay on it more. I'm not worrying yet but I've got to find a way to help her sleep on other parts of her head.

(At the moment she's sleeping on her tummy with her head on my left shoulder. I wouldn't mind putting her down, actually, but cheeky child that she is, she'll just wake up and be fussy, so I might as well deal with the sore neck.)

Clogged again

[livejournal.com profile] clarisinda, this one's for you :-P

No movement since an (independently produced) explosion on Friday. (I think Friday anyway... POSSIBLY Saturday...)

Madame got 2oz prune juice mixed 50/50 with water.

Bloody prune juice only comes in 1L containers and says "use within 5 days of opening". That's a lot of wasted prune juice (and consequently, money--Waitrose only had the glass bottle stuff in which is £2.25.)

What are they putting in Aptamil and why did it only start when she went to 6oz?!

OK, not about Aliza

The one bad thing about being a new(ish) mother is time. It's not so much that you have less of it, exactly; it's that you have much less usable time. Babies are unpredictable. You can rarely settle down to do something because the baby will just want feeding/cuddling/changing at some point.

The one thing I miss about pre-motherhood is having time to read a book.
