Maine Coons are my favorite cat. I don't think I would ever have a different breed. You might want to check you local Humane Societies. Maine Coons do turn up quite a bit. I think that most people end up having a problem with all the extra fur, so they dump them. Rescuing a kitty would be a good thing to do.
I'll check, but they aren't as common here. Plus, I've heard some horror stories about picky rescue societies--they won't let you have an animal without doing a home visit, and they frown on keeping cats in apartments!
Yeah, sometimes. I miss the weather! You've got it easier on that front as Seattle's more like London. Food's also an adjustment.
We're probably moving back to the States eventually as it's just so expensive here, especially for young families as house prices have gone up so much.
