Northern Line from Camden Town to East Finchley to be closed EVERY WEEKEND from 15/07 to 23/09. No service from Camden to Kennington via Charing Cross for 10 weekends from 29/04.

Tube Lines actually had the alternative proposal of closing the line for 3 weeks in August!!

We've been thinking of moving; perhaps we'll be looking on the Edgware branch...

Unfortunately, to get all these improved services and refurbished stations and whatnot, they have to close the lines occasionally. The Northern Line is one of the worst, too.

What improved services? The Northern Line sucks great hairy donkey testicles.

Not that Mayor Ken cares about north London anyway...

The improved services you'll get once the changes are made that they're closing the line for because the Northern Line is shit.

You can't just magic improvements up.

You'll understand if I'm somewhat skeptical about all these "improvements", given what Northern line riders have to endure. The signals fail on a regular basis and TfL keep fucking with the schedule.

(To be fair, I don't entirely blame Ken: Blair and Brown tied his hands with the ridiculous PPP agreement. And our idiot Tory council had a big hand in fucking up the bus station. But he really seems to have very little regard for north London: as far as he's concerned, we're all rich and have the Tube, so we don't need anything else. But we can pay for the Olympics! [Barnet is paying more than any other borough, apparently])

(No, I've not been listening to our assembly member too much: he's also a moron).

Er, that would be because the improvements haven't been made yet. The theory is, that you won't be 'enduring' quite so much after they've been done.

It's got sod-all to do with Livingstone, Blair, Brown, whoever. It's the simple idea that something is shit now, and needs to be closed so it can be made less shit.

They've supposedly been making improvements, that's the thing. We've been having loads of closures already: these are only notable because there are so many of them!

And the PPP makes a BIG difference in how it's done and the effects. If Blair and Brown hadn't insisted on it, and wasted time on it, they'd have been working on this already. Instead it's contracted out and by all accounts, taking longer and costing more money. It's like Crossrail: with all the time and money they're spending arguing about who's going to pay for and build it, they could just build the fucking thing!
