Peter King is a congressman (member of the House), not a senator. Why do British newspapers seem to find it so difficult to distinguish between the two? Do they think that "Congressman" means any member of Congress, rather than just the House? And how does no one catch this? He would be referred to as Rep. King, and the details are easy enough to check. Plus, New York's senators are hardly obscure--they are Chuck Schumer and Hillary Clinton. (Both Democrats.) The Guardian made exactly the same error last year, too.

(I wrote in a correction, and told them about the Guardian's mistake; I thought the staff might find it amusing.)

amusingly, the Congressman = member of the House of Representatives thing is mirrored exactly by the use of MP for members of the House of Commons but not the Lords.
