[livejournal.com profile] commlal had this in her LJ:

So, say you were meeting a new person--blind date, new friend, who knows. And you wanted them to have some idea of what kind of person you are, and who you are. But you can't actually tell them in so many words. Instead, you have to give them a box, with a dozen things in it for them to look at/read/listen to/taste/whatever.

What would you put in the box? And a copy of your journal or a link to your LJ would be the same thing as just telling them directly, yourself, so that's not allowed.

Now, I've thought about this and have no idea. So I turn to my readership. What would you put in? (You don't have to give a full list, just one will do. Though you can do more if you want.)

(EDIT: Seems I wasn't clear: I meant what would you put in a box for me :) )

Is this dating in prison or something?

A smart-ass comment from Kent. Now there's a surprise :-)

It really did seem to warrant it. I've seem some pretty dumb memes in my time, but shoebox dating is pretty close to the limit.

Dating was just an example. Think of it as representing oneself via objects rather than words.
