Oddest book titles

Brilliant stuff!

http://enjoyment.independent.co.uk/books/news/article2341346.ece

I threatened to buy the shopping cart one--it's on amazon.com ;)

(The nude mice title from 1978 isn't nearly as funny. It's only good if you don't know what nude mice are--they're specially bred hairless mice used in scientific research. I wouldn't have voted for it--I prefer the genuinely bizarre.)

(also discovered on the site: The Torbay Bookshop in Paignton won Independent Bookseller of the Year last year. Interesting!)

Shopping fun

We went to get Aliza some new clothes today, and ventured to Ye Olde Shoppinge Parke (of the bad parking) as it has a giant Next and my mother got her some really cute things there. They did have nice stuff, but there was one problem: their systems were down. ALL of them. They were writing up receipts by hand and taking old-fashioned imprints. They couldn't do so much as a price check. I got her a decent amount of stuff though, so all she needs for the next few months is another pack of white onesies. I like that it's warm now so she can wear dresses :) (not all the time though... rompers are convenient. But sometimes you have to give in to the desire for them to look cute.)

There was a strange shortage of Independents in Finchley today. None at Waitrose, so after I got home, I walked up to Ballards Lane (the newsagents in our road close at something like 1pm on Sunday). I had to go to 4 shops before I found one! Meh.
