Too good to be true

It was back to sleepies today. oops. I've slept about 18 hours. I'm hoping that it's due to missing a dose of meds. Unfortunately, I also took them late today, and taking them in the evening makes my sleep worse than if I take them in the morning.

So now I'll be up all night. I could put on Test Match Special in half an hour, but it will be depressing. It's going to be a draw, because at the rate it's going, we'll be lucky to finish the first innings! (To non-Brits: A draw in cricket doesn't mean a tie; it means they ran out of time. A Test match is 5 days and has 2 innings. If we've only got 5 of 10 bowlers out at the start of Day 4, it's not a good sign. Everyone's blaming the flat pitch at Adelaide. Great for the batsmen, bad for the bowlers.)

Although I do have to admire Ricky Ponting's optimism; he still thinks Australia can win!

(Yeah, yeah, I kind of like cricket. I'd still rather watch baseball, but cricket isn't as bad or mystifying as it's made out to be. And I did marry a member of the Barmy Army.)

Size-ist!

And not in a place I expected it either.

I was flipping through the NCT catalogue. The majority of their clothes (maternity/nursing) only go up to a size 16. That's a UK 16, i.e. US 12-14. That's bloody ridiculous. A few go up to a 20, but that's the biggest. Nursing bras? One has a 44 band; most are a 40, tops. They're just fine with the cup sizes; it goes up to something like K. But large band? Nope. Don't they realise that many women go up in band size as well as cup? And that's aside from the general principle being ignored: There are fat women, and damn it, we get pregnant too!

Small world

A guy I went to high school with has just taken up a lectureship at the University of Essex. Which is, by American standards, just down the road. (Slightly further by UK ones. It's in Colchester, which is the far end of Essex.)

(Should speak to Carly actually--she and his sister used to be really good friends; I don't know if they still are.)

Damn you Zoe!

So I'm on the sofa, laptop in lap, having a yoghurt. Zoe wants some. I do not wish to give her any. She tries climbing up on the laptop. I try throwing her off. She digs her claws into the laptop keyboard and pops off 2 keys (left and right arrow) as I get her off. :(

I've got them back on but they're distinctly dodgy. And there's no appointments at Apple Brent Cross left today! (Even though it's only 3am!) Tuesday we have an NCT class (switched from Thursday this week). Oh well, it's not so bad that it can't wait till Wednesday (Neil has to take me; lugging my laptop anywhere isn't happening at the moment.)
