If I fall asleep early, I will wake up when Neil comes to bed, and not be able to fall back asleep.

I was reading the Observer Woman and someone wrote to the beauty column saying that ever since she'd moved to London, her hair and skin had gone down the pan because of the water. It's so true--the water's hard as nails and my hair and skin are horribly dry. I have visibly aged since moving here, despite being diligent with the moisturiser. (I know it's the water because after a few days at my parents' my hair gets soft and shiny again.)

Unfortunately, the advice was to rinse your hair in bottled water. It does make sense--no limescale on your hair--but I suspect it could get very expensive.

I tried them on and they fit fine. A little snug around the tops of the thighs, but I think that's the Lycra slimming thing (the thighs are the same as in the regular Spanx, and those do the same). The belly and waistband are super-comfortable--nice support from underneath, no pressure on the stomach, waistband doesn't roll or bind. Heck, I'm more comfortable with them on than without. :)

The nude is a little dark, but I have very light skin so I can't really complain. It's another reason I usually like Nordstrom's own-brand hosiery--they do multiple shades of beige and the lightest one is great on me. Still darker than my skin (which, let's face it, is closer to ivory!) but flattering and non-jarring.

I still can't believe I spent £20 on non-special-occasion tights, though. Extravagance! But then, I suppose that given the load I am/will be carrying, it's not an entirely wasteful indulgence.

How many have your name?

(I used my maiden name, since I know there are other people with it in the US. 900, apparently. I tried it with my married name [not double barrelled] and it's not even in the database!)

The weaknesses of statistical analysis, eh? :)

The cat is playing her favourite game, "chase the bottlecap". I knew she'd love the hard floors in this flat--so much more satisfying for chasing things. Now, if I gave her a glass marble, she'd be in heaven. (My mother used to have these fake flowers in a vase, held in place with glass marbles. Zoe worked out how to fish them out of the vase with her paw, and LOVED to chase them across the stone floor in the kitchen.)

(We're less enamoured of one variant, "chase the bottlecap from the kitchen to the bedroom late at night".)

I got a call from FedEx today. They have a parcel for me that they've tried to deliver 3 times (to the old flat). Since I can't waste a day hanging around there, I have to go pick it up. In Enfield. And they don't open on Saturday. So Neil has to leave work early so I can get there by 18:30. :/ (It's in a backwater corner of Enfield and would take 3 buses to get there. Trains leave from Liverpool Street, not Kings Cross, so that wouldn't be any faster.)

If this is what I think it is (Complete New Yorker update DVD), I ordered it in August, and I had no idea they'd be sending it FedEx! What's wrong withe the post?! Even Parcelfarce?
