Neil and I went out to see A Scanner Darkly. Yes, we both wanted to see the same film for once ;) It was pretty good, and mainly faithful to the book (except they changed things around with Freck--but surprisingly enough I didn't mind; they made him a good character, so it was all right).

Neil also ran into Dave and Denise when he was purchasing the tickets... small world :)

Then we had some noodles and came home. Nice evening out.

Tried booking in on Concierge (Apple reservations system) at 10:00. No appointments. !!!!

Seems that since they upgraded to Concierge (which lets you pick appointments instead of just being added to the list) you can book before the store opens, as long as it's same-day. So I shall try at 00:01, as advised. If that doesn't work, I'm just going to go there and demand service. ;)

Repairman got here 15 minutes ago. Within 5 minutes he'd diagnosed the problem: something caught in the filter. He says, "did you get an error message--E20?" Me: "yes." Him: "Ah, E20, filter blocked message." Me: "I told that to the guy Saturday and he said I needed a new logic board!" How silly, wasted 5 days and his time. If I'd known about the filter I could have had clean laundry Saturday.

Anyway, I'm out of Persil, so the laundry will be done this afternoon. Funnily enough, I was passing the Persil in the supermarket Monday evening and said to Neil "Oh, we're almost out of Persil". He said "the washing machine is broken, what good will Persil do us?" Should've seen sense and bought it then so I'd have it when the machine was fixed!

(Oh, apparently Persil doesn't mean anything in German. I was curious, because it means parsley in French. Which is a weird name for a detergent, although my dog had tablets with parsley in them that were meant to freshen her breath, so who knows.)

Did all my errands: surgery, Boots, WH Smiths, Boots the Opticians, supermarket. The excitement was deadly, I tell you. I mean, 2 different branches of Boots?

Need to finish the washing up, put some laundry in, and hoover. Meh.

According to the tenancy agreement we received the other day, we are responsible for washing the net curtains.

Never mind that I didn't actually notice any net curtains...

And neither we nor our guests are permitted to smoke. Not that I would let people smoke inside anyway. Sorry, fag-addicted-visitors, you shall have to go outside.

I think I should change my pregnancy icon to Barney from the Simpsons. It's suitable: I'm fat and I belch a lot.

Eh, what the hell, let's add it on. ;)

Other than that the sprog is fine. My midsection seems to have expanded a bit, though there's still some waistline left. OK, don't know about waistline, but it does go in then out again...

I used the "I'm pregnant" line on a tube train last night, for the first time. It wasn't to get someone to get up, though. I got on a train at Camden, saw someone get up, and immediately nabbed the seat. Woman said to me in a very bitchy way "My kid was sitting there" so I just replied "Sorry, I'm pregnant". Wouldn't have used it if she hadn't been nasty. You get up, you lose your seat.

I phoned my mother this morning because it's her birthday, and we had a chat. Her latest worry is that the cat will hurt the baby. I'm not. Of course, I plan to put a net over the bassinet because Zoe will be curious, and she's bigger than the baby will be. But I'm not worried about her trying to claw her way through the net or something. My mother thinks I need to keep the cat locked out of the room, which I think is unnecessary. As long as she can't get into the bassinet it should be fine--she's not a jumper anyway, so my only concern is that she'd try to go from the bed to the bassinet. There are cats I wouldn't trust around a baby, but Zoe is really pretty gentle. She's just big!
