"Nonexistent" might be the best word: I slept through it.

My parents and grandma called me to wish me a happy birthday. That was about it.

Ah well, not as if I made a fuss myself did I... Next year is another matter though ;-)

1) Whenever someone comes into the flat, Zoe tries to escape. She seems to have discovered that there's a world beyond the flat.

She never does it when someone's going out, though, so maybe she doesn't want to leave us entirely ;-)

2) The birthday card Neil got me had a kitten on the front, with a little bell attached. I showed it to Zoe. She decided it was a toy. Then she got bored with it.

Changed the WarGames DVD. Oxford Street HMV had it in and the new one plays perfectly. Phew. :)

I saw the first 2 series of The Twilight Zone, but resisted. (All 5 are out in the US; this is the first time I've seen it in the UK. Ah--first 3 released here; Series 4 due in September, according to Amazon UK.)

Besides, it's not as if I don't have enough DVDs to catch up on. I will get round to buying all of TZ though, it's too good not to have!

I've got the windows and doors open and I'm still sweating. Can't be bothered to rearrange everything and bring the a/c in from the bedroom, but I might have to.

(OK, properly speaking, it's not THAT hot, it's only 26C. But I've got my internal furnace to contend with--it's put "ideal room temperature" down to about 18C.)

I also have to go to the supermarket and I don't feel like walking :/ At least I don't have to walk back as I'll have too much to carry. A minicab is the same as paying Ocado to deliver it and doesn't require advance planning ;-)

I'm eating albacore tuna for the 2nd time in just under a week...
(But I've eaten very little tuna while pregnant otherwise, so I don't think it will kill me. Or more accurately, harm the FutureSprog. Besides, I really am pretty good with all the safety recommendations. I'm a woman, not an incubator.)

(Current recommendations are no more than 6oz of albacore per week because it can contain methylmercury. Chunk light is somewhat safer, but chunk light is nasty. What can I say, I grew up with a mother who prided herself on never buying cheap tuna. Nothing but Hellmann's mayo for us either.)

(Speaking of which, this is interesting. I'm looking at the Hellmann's US product page. The regular, light, reduced fat--all OU pareve. The new mayo with lime juice--not kosher. Or at least, doesn't say it is. What could they be putting in it?!)

When reading a NYT article about massively oversized houses, you mentally convert all the measurements to square metres, because it's easier than trying to remember how square feet relate to acres. (I just did a calculator conversion. 1ac = 43,560 sq.ft. I mean, wtf? Metres are easy. 1 acre is just over 4,000m2. 1000 sq.ft. = just under 100m2. Standard 60x100 house lot = 550m2. Acres are only useful historically--640 acres to the mile, hence the 160 acre quarter-section granted under the Homestead Act of 1862. Which is about as useful today as the Homestead Act itself.)

On the other hand, measuring air pressure in millibars is still a hazy concept. (I'm from the US. I know inches of mercury. 29.92 inHg is standard pressure. I can remember that the metric equivalent is about 1000 mbar, but I needed to look it up to know that it was 1013.)
