more cookery

I ordered La Bonne Cuisine of Madame E. Saint-Ange from Amazon. Had to. It was finally translated into English, and it was marked down to $25! How could I not resist? (It was one of the major sources for Mastering the Art of French Cooking.)

(Although apparently, Mme Saint-Ange wrote 2 books. This is actually the first, La livre de cuisine, but is published under the title of the 2nd!)

I am a bookaholic. *hangs head*

sleep

Don't you hate it when you think you're tired, so you go to bed, but as soon as you lie down, you know you're not going to fall asleep?

I slept for about 2.5 hours earlier this evening; I suspect that will be all I get. I'm just going to stay up now, get all my errands, etc done, come home, cook something elaborate for dinner (to keep me occupied), and go to bed early. I hope.

In the meantime, I'm cooking quince paste.

Neil is going to be very tired today.

Regent Street

The Apple Store on Regent Street is absolutely insane. I got here at 9:55 (Oh thank you Northern Line. And very crowded Victoria Line.) The queue was nearly around the block. By the time the doors opened, it WAS around the block. I headed upstairs and queued. (I should've just opened my laptop and used online booking, really...) When I got to the head of the queue (10:15) the next available appointment was after 12. So I said "look, I just have a loose key" and she said "oh, if it's just the key itself I can do that", and she did. :-)

(though perhaps using my laptop isn't the best idea: I've just tried loading Concierge to see how bad it's gotten, and it's not loading... ah, there. First slot, 1pm. The system has improved, though; you can now pick any available time that day, instead of being stuck with the first available slot.)

So I'm just having a quick spod before heading back out. Exciting eh?
