chez parents

Yesterday was a typically disorganized affair, as we packed as the taxi was about to arrive. I was most annoyed as I realized, at the last minute, that I'd put my garment bag in storage. DOH!

The flight was fine; it was less than half full. I actually watched a film all the way through!

Immigration was crowded. I queued for 15 mins, then found the bags and stood around while Neil waited in HIS queue (DHS guy told Neil he can go through with me in future).

AirTrain to rental car place, arranged for car in sleep haze, got hideous orange Cavalier. (The only other compact they had was a 2 door.)

Neil drove to my parents and got annoyed at me not announcing turns 5 minutes in advance. We made it by 23:30, said hello, had a drink, cuddled Abby and went to bed.

This morning we went to the bakery & supermarket, came home and had fresh bagels and lox and are about to go to my grandma's. It's going to be 82 and sunny. Yeah!

mmm, beach!

We just went to see my grandma's new apartment. It's gorgeous. It's huge and all brand new and faces out onto the beach. Neil wants it :) There's a ramp and gate from the back of the block onto the beach and we went for a walk. It was a perfect day, warm and sunny--you'd never believe it was the 3rd weekend in September. Stupidly, we'd forgotten our bathing suits (we'd packed them, they were just at my parents') so we could only wade. We walked as far as the jetty. This was surprisingly interesting--it was covered in tiny molluscs (they looked like little mussels) and we saw some starfish, some other molluscs that looked like clams. We forgot the camera though!

Neil and my dad are now watching football. Exciting, eh?!
