geek happiness!!

I was annoyed that I can't play Region 2 DVDs on my laptop--you can switch it up to 5 times, but I have a bunch of R1 DVDs too and I don't want to be locked out of either. So I started looking at region hacks. After reading various webpages, I decided I didn't want to play with the firmware AND void my Applecare. (I'd care less on a desktop, but if anything goes wrong on a laptop, you can't fix it yourself.) But I did discover VLC (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/) which will let me view any region without modifying the firmware. Nifty :)
