I read this column in today's Guardian. It's a shame that Dina Rabinovitch didn't know a 3rd fact about breast cancer: Ashkenazi Jewish women are 200 times more likely to carry the BRCA1 and 2 genetic mutations, which cause 40% of breast cancers in Ashkenazi women.

I considered writing a letter, but decided it would sound awful.

(She mentioned in the article that she's Jewish--and with that surname she's not Middle Eastern!)

I'm experimenting now that English apples are starting to come into season. I got the Suffolk Pink ones from Waitrose. They're pretty good. Nice juicy, crisp texture; flavor a little mild but pleasant.
