Oh, you horrible breast is best bullies... "independent baby experts"?!
The fact is that the UK has APPALLING BF rates. 76%? No way. The government's infant feeding survey said 66% are BF at birth, a quarter are BF at 4 months. Norway has 99% of women BF'ing when they leave the hospital and 90% still doing it at 4 months. It is the norm in Norway to breastfeed--you're unusual if you don't.
The problem is not the "breast is best" campaign. The problem is that we talk the talk but don't walk the walk. We tell women to breastfeed but don't provide the support they need to do it. There are too many midwives, doctors, nurses and health visitors who are poorly educated on breastfeeding. That's why women fail, and why they feel they're "bullied" into it.
