This morning I said to my mom that I was going to go out in a little bit. Aliza brought me my shoes and then my bag. :)

When we got back, I was putting things away in the fridge. She saw the container of cut-up canteloupe, took it and handed it to me. I sat her in he chair and gave her some, and she ate 4 pieces.

Now she's found her bowl and spoon and is pretending to eat. (she's already had lunch)

It's 27C, the sky is deep clear blue and not a cloud in sight. I took Aliza swimming (they'll close the pool in a day or two, oh well). I was in the pool looking at the sunshine and remembering why I'd wanted to move back.

And I have a lobster tail from Dortoni's (a lobster tail is an Italian pastry, like sfogliatelle, but with custard filling instead of ricotta). Not the best lobster tail i've ever had but still good.

I'm going to fry some eggplant then take Aliza for a walk.

My parents have digital cable. There are about 600 channels, including the 100 HD channels. Admittedly, everything from 196 to 237 inclusive (plus 4 or 5 of the top 100) is in Spanish and the rest of the 200s (not all used) are in other foreign languages. Still, the amount of crap is amazing.

I have to stop watching bad movies just because I have 75 movie channels. And I will not watch bad trainwreck shows that I have previously only heard about (as we speak, TLC is having a Jon & Kate Plus 8 marathon).

Aliza does like Noggin, though most of the kids' programs here seem to be animated. The BBC prefers live-action (the way they do it, I'm sure it's cheaper).

1) White eggs. I had them for 27 years and now they look weird. I'm going to have to start buying free range eggs (usually brown).

2) US butter comes in 4oz sticks. European butter comes in 250g slabs. I have lost my ability to eyeball stick butter (i.e. reliably measure an ounce without a scale) and the sticks just look funny and small. Also, my parents buy regular Land O'Lakes and it's too white. It's just because the cows eat more hay/silage and less fresh grass, but it looks funny now that I'm used to yellow European butter (and I'm sure someone told me that French butter, which I usually got, is relatively pale). Much as I wish I could regularly pay $4 for half a pound of butter, I can't, so I'll have to stick with US butter (though you can get stuff that's better than Land O'Lakes).
