it is illegal to discriminate against tenants on the basis of family status. This includes expressing a preference for '2 singles' or 'a couple'. It's right in the Craigslist rules and you're directed to them when posting an apartment ad (I checked); you don't even need to read the statute.

(Yes, it is illegal to refuse to rent to someone because they have children. Only exception is designated senior-citizens only housing.)

Most of the problems are by-owner listings (I'm browsing for fun) but occasionally brokers do it and they should fucking know better. Sorry for the swearing.

I'm sick of flagging posts.

Today I went to Barnet Registry Office to do my citizenship application (it's faster through the checking service, plus they photocopy your documents so you can keep your passport). This all went fine, though the current wait is 7 months :/

anyway, while I was waiting I glanced at the Notices of Marriage posted on the wall and noticed someone I know was on the list. I'd had no idea she and her partner had finally decided to make it official. (Or that she was divorced...)
