Aliza decided to have a massive shrieking fit in Waitrose today. I actually got glares and 2 people trying to shut her up. YES I KNOW SHE'S MAKING A HUGE NOISE THANKS.
Telling her to shush (with or without explanation) = a grin and more shrieking.
Putting my fingers to her lips while I tell her to shush = works for .5 seconds
Ignoring her = she ramps it up.
I wonder what those parenting geniuses and know-it-all old biddies wanted me to do? Spank her in the middle of the store? She's 15 months old; her reasoning powers are pretty limited. I don't think she understands "don't do that, Mommy's head hurts".
Taking her home wasn't an option--I couldn't have made another trip out today and I was nearly done anyway.
(My head really does hurt, and my chest is worse. After I brought Aliza upstairs I couldn't catch my breath.)
