As Junkfood Science points out, the headlines are extremely misleading. Yes, 51% of deaths were overweight or obese women. However, 54.8% of women of childbearing age are overweight or obese (the post doesn't state the percentage of mothers who are obese, which might be different since obese women are more likely to suffer from fertility issues).

(I recommend reading the whole post; it's illuminating to compare it to the reports in the news. It makes you wonder about the standards of science and health journalism today.)
