Aliza was cranky and clingy and sleepy all afternoon. Finally I realised she was a bit warm and took her temperature. 38.7C (101.6F). Well, no wonder. I'm not sure exactly what the problem is--she was grabbing her ears a little, so maybe it's an ear infection. I'm going to take her temperature again in the morning and if it's still above 38, I'll take her to the GP.

Ooh boy, was she a fussy madam all night--kept us up :( I think it's an ear infection. She's crabby, feverish, snotty and pulling at her ears. She was better for a bit this morning but now she's cranky again so I called the GP. The receptionist said they were out of urgent appointments, but I explained the situation (10 month old, ear infection) and she said the GP would ring me. (Babies under 2 can't go to a walk-in centre; it has to be the GP or A&E.)

Her fever's down to 37.9, but I've given her some Calpol anyway.

She agreed that it sounds like she might have an ear infection, but these days they don't like to prescribe antibiotics straight away. So I have to keep an eye on her and give her Calpol every 4 hours. if she doesn't improve, then I should ring the surgery again tomorrow. Aliza's perked up a bit, but then she did that early this morning and then went cranky again so we'll see.

today's babble sounds like she's repeating "giggle" over and over again. I'm sure it's coincidence but it's a really funny one.

She still won't say mama though! if I try to get her to copy me, she grins and won't say anything.
