1) Borders had Alice Sebold for half price. I didn't, don't worry. It's not as if I have the time anyway. I have some time to read, but not as much as I'd like, and although I'd finish it quickly it would still be eating time that could be spent reading something better.
One of the few downsides to parenthood: Reading time goes out the window. It's made worse for me since I can't concentrate on what I'm reading if I do it in the living room, with the TV on (often) and Aliza and the laptop... just not calm and quiet enough. I can read the newspaper, but that's it. (Reading things online is totally different for me. First, I probably do a bit more skimming, and I don't tend to get absorbed in it the way I do with a book.)
2) People I hate, one in an occasional series: I was walking down Oxford Street today with Aliza. Half the sidewalk was closed off. Two idiot girls were standing there, smoking and not paying a bit of attention. One of them flicked her ash without looking. Another couple of cm and it would have landed on Aliza's face. :-(
