We're supposed to have an 8Mbit connection. It normally syncs at around 7600Kbit. (~500K down, by the way.)

I was wondering why things were so slow--I;'d be downloading at only 50K/sec, but the Internet would be unusable otherwise. I just checked the router status. We're at, get this, 832/128!!! We do NOT pay £30 a month to get speeds that low.

I tried disconnecting and reconnecting, but same thing. I'll try rebooting the router next. If that doesn't work, Neil will be on the phone to Bangalore when he gets home.

ETA: Phew, unplugging and rebooting it did the trick. I briefly wondered if we'd been capped, but I haven't been doing much downloading lately. Crisis averted. :)

My life is boring and baby filled. Yesterday she ate almost a whole scrambled egg and a piece of buttered toast. It's funny though, she likes food if you give it to her but she doesn't really grab for it yet. She tries eating her toys, though.

I'm seriously thinking about going back to school to become a librarian, despite previous statements to the contrary. I think academic/research librarianship might be really interesting. I have enough experience now to know that although I enjoy the results of social-sector work, I need something a bit more intellectual. I need something where my google-fu and stalker skills can be put to a higher purpose.

Of course this leads to the whole work/life balance thing... I've given up on having a definitive opinion on it. All I know is that my brain needs something else in the long term (as important as staying home at this age is) but I don't want to be married to work. Blah.
