Neil and I were both exhausted and wanted an early night--we were done for by about 21:30. Aliza, of course, was still wide awake. But if we BOTH want to go to bed, she's got to go too. Neither of us was really in a fit state to stay up with her anyway. I knew that putting her in her cot would just result in screaming, so I skipped it and brought her into bed. She was not a happy bunny, and fussed quite a bit for a few minutes. Luckily, some singing, some cuddles, and she... went to sleep, and stayed asleep! (I think there may have been one or two brief fusses, but nothing out of the ordinary.) We both got up at 8 and she's now bright eyed and bushy tailed (and working on her crawling again).
Yesterday (to go backwards) we went up to Didcot to see Neil's sister (who was visiting her brother- and sister-in-law). The trip up was traffic filled. It took us an hour to get to the M40. 35 minutes of that were spent in the queue for, and getting through, Hanger Lane. I think another 10 was getting through Hendon Central/Brent Cross. The visit itself was good fun though. Aliza was fussed over, played with different toys, and was fascinated by the large plasma/LCD TV.
The way back involved traffic on the M40, BBC Radio 2 playing some odd things as part of its 40th birthday (including light classical music; presumably not serious enough for Radio 3 at the time, but not normally what I'd choose as driving music) and, at the end, a very unhappy baby.
She/I are also dealing with a bit of a rash :( Not sure what's causing it. Cream helps, but I know it itches--the minute I take off her nappy she starts scratching. It's not her nappies, because I had her in disposables to make sure it wasn't something in her regular ones (I gave them all a really good hot wash and lots of rinsing to be 100% sure) and that didn't improve matters. If it keeps up I'll take her in to the GP. I don't think it's a yeast infection or anything like that; it's not that serious. I know it's not allergies because she hasn't eaten anything new and it's kept up.
We're off out in a bit; our (nearly new!) kitchen scales have decided to stop working, and we've been unable to resurrect them.
