As I may have mentioned, my laptop battery is flaky. Machine runs off AC power; battery doesn't charge.

Apple have done something to their concierge system. Appointments are no longer released at midnight for the next day. I tried several times to get an appointment for Brent Cross, but it always told me all appointments were booked. I tried Regent Street. It gave me an appointment for Saturday night at 20:20. In frustration, I gave up and booked it.

You see, there was a problem with that time: Neil's playing bridge tonight. So I'd have to take Aliza--meaning, take her in her buggy to Oxford Circus. Not brilliant.

In fact, I just attempted it... and had to give up. I can't manage a laptop, diaper bag, and the buggy, because neither the laptop nor the diaper bag fit in the basket. Or more accurately, I can't manage it for the length of time I'd need to. If I have the buggy, I can't get on at West Finchley; I have to go to Finchley Central. Going to Brent Cross would be OK because it's a single bus directly from my house to BC.

I've just rebooked for Monday (it's a bank holiday, so Neil will be home) but I'm actually going to be really bolshy tomorrow and just show up at Brent Cross and complain. This is not acceptable service--I've tried about a dozen times in the past 2 days and there have been NO slots.

I managed to snap up an old Storch Inka!! Old is good in this case: Storch changed the Inka. It used to have 2 shades of yellow (one pale and one gold) and now both are gold. I don't know why they did this--the two yellows are adjacent, so now it has double-width gold stripes, and none of the other stripes are doubles.)

(Here's a comparison thread:
http://www.thebabywearer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=59774)

The funny thing was, originally I was going to get a shorter one. Then I decided that lemony Inka was hard enough to find that I'd take it in any usable length (either 4.1 or 5.2--4.6 is a hard one for me. I can do some carries in it, but nothing where a 5.2 wouldn't be OK, albeit with tails.) Right after I changed my ISO, someone put a 5.2 up for sale (in the general FSOT board, not in response to my ISO). It was in NL too so I didn't have to pay stupid shipping charges!

Even better, it's one of the Storches that runs slightly long--I measured it, and it's 5.4m. This makes it absolutely perfect for a wrap cross carry--I'm not tying in the tips. And because it's old, it's super soft--like buttah. A new Inka would be like canvas in comparison.

So, it's gorgeous (colours! colours! I love colours. And it has quite a bit of purple in it which is one colour I didn't have) AND practical!

Neil took a couple of photos but the light was at the wrong angle, so I'll have to try again tomorrow. Did get one that was usable for an icon though, so here's a new one :)
