I had my NCT group over this morning. We all agreed that the new earlier time wasn't working, and from next week we're going back to afternoons. :-)
In the afternoon, I went to Brent Cross to do a couple of errands. It was crowded and annoying. Damn school holidays.
Now I'm snarking at out of control hippies. (More natural parenting boards fun. There are sane people there, but there are lunatics. Their children are going to grow up to be out of control brats who can't read at 12. And of course, not circ'ed or vaccinated [today's topper, vaccinating your pets GIVES THEM CANCER!]. What drives me nuts about some of the anti-circ brigade is that they're all about how it's wrong to take a baby's choice away from him, etc. So if it's the man's choice, why are THEY more upset about their husband's circs than the men are?! There are women who are upset because their husbands won't undergo foreskin restoration. Er, their choice, isn't it? Anyway, at the moment I'm shaking my head at mothers who are so anti-discipline they won't make their kids do anything they don't want to. And I do mean anything. Ice cream for breakfast? Fine. Don't want to go to the dentist? Not a problem. Won't put clothes on? Well, we won't go out. FFS, kids need boundaries. That's why they are the children and we are the parents. I'm all for gentle discipline in that I don't approve of smacking, screaming, name-calling or the like and I prefer to explain things calmly and say that such-and-such behaviour is not acceptable. But gentle discipline and respect does not mean that you don't control your kids' behaviour at all!)
