I called myself a JAP on a forum and someone gave me a snotty line about how it's a religious slur and that kind of language isn't welcome.

1) it ain't the N-word
2) I'm Jewish and I can slur myself if I bloody well please!

(JAP = Jewish American Princess if anyone is unenlightened)

Not only was I told to remove the term JAP because it's a "religious slur", I was told to remove my "sarcastic use of the word Yank" (referring to myself, by the way).

What gets me is that there's a section called "Queer Parenting". Uh, it's OK for gay people to reclaim a term, but not me? Never mind that A PERSON OF THE RELIGION IN QUESTION (i.e. me), says IT'S NOT A SLUR!

The idiots are in charge of the asylum.

There was a sign up in Lovers Walk saying it would be closed for 3 nights for sewer works... from "Friday 9 July 2007".

9 July is a Monday.

Oops. :)

Nice one, Barnet Council!

Aliza has been switched from carrycot to seat in her stroller. She likes it. The only trouble is that because she's such a skinny baby, the waist straps are loose even when tightened as far as they'll go!! Hopefully the amount of formula she's sucking down will improve this ;)

We also bought her a high chair. We were looking at the Stokke Tripp Trapp because it got a great write-up in last week's Guardian Family personal shopper column, and is super compact. Unfortunately, it has a design flaw (IMO). In the infant stage, instead of just having a belt harness, it's got a permanent T-bar and you have to get baby's legs through it. Miss Froggy was not pleased with this and didn't want to unbend her legs. (She will once you put her down--she just didn't want to un-froggy to go through the holes.) Scratch that idea. So we went with a more conventional one.

Today I did a good deed and brought someone my Ergo Baby Carrier to try out. (Not a friend, just someone off the Sling Meet UK site who was looking for one--I offered as long as I could get there reasonably easily. ;-) )

Also I had Neil try to help me with a Back Wrap Cross Carry (afraid to try it on my own!) Not entirely successful I'm afraid... she wasn't nearly high/secure enough. Although it was a relief to know that they can stay on your back (facing down) pretty well when you're bent over! I need a way to do it in front of a mirror...
