I'm annoyed. I have 2 BabyKicks Hemparoo inserts, which are fabulous for nighttime--very absorbent and slimline. (I don't use them during the day because they're slow to dry; the microterry are fine.)
Unfortunately, 2 isn't enough, especially as ideally I'd be using 2 hemp inserts at night (I can also use 1 hemp plus 1 microterry, but it's quite bulky). So I went to get more.
Kittykins didn't have the BabyKicks, but they had HempBabies inserts (made by Cotton Babies, who also make BumGenius). It said the Large Weeds were suitable for medium or large pocket nappies. I thought "great!" and got 4. I got them today. They're basically big squares of hemp fleece. BIG squares--they're nearly as big as my prefolds! That wouldn't be such a problem though--I could fold them. But they're the wrong bloody size. Folded in 3 (the way they come) they're MUCH too long, and folded in half again the other way, they're a) bulky and b) too short.
I suppose they'd make excellent doublers in a prefold or flat if I want to try that... I'm just annoyed. I'm not sure if I should be more annoyed at the design or the marketing. Mainly the latter, I think. A square of hemp fleece is a great idea, it's just not suitable for use as a pocket insert.
Oh, and now I've found the BabyKicks on another site... and their description of the Big Weeds is a bit more accurate, mentioning the size. Grr. If I'd known I would've saved myself some money.
