Today is my 30th birthday (interestingly, the English and Hebrew dates coincide this year). I'm officially an old git ;)

My birthday has been nice though. Neil bought me earrings (I was surprised and everything) and we had fish and chips out at Torcross for lunch. Afterwards we went for a walk on the beach. I amused Neil by not realising just how hard it is to walk on shingle (pebbles), especially uphill! I'm used to sand beaches (Long Island's south shore is basically a sand spit and the beaches are very fine dune sand); it's not so much easier to walk on loose sand (though sand in one's sandals is less painful than pebbles) but wet sand packs down and is very easy to walk on. Shingle doesn't! But I did get to stick my feet in the sea :) (OK... English Channel... Start Bay... whatever)

Anyway we had a potter round the South Hams and then drove back to London. Original plan was to return tomorrow, but then Neil realised his work cricket outing was tomorrow, not Wednesday, and the timing with driving back Tuesday would have been difficult.

Oh yes, for those who didn't know, we were down visiting Neil's parents in Devon. Neil played bridge. I did very little (it rained). Aliza was admired by various relatives and family friends, and aside from an almighty fuss Friday evening, was very well behaved.

Now, to make a completely useless attempt at catching up.... (LJ done, though, I have a "people" filter :) )
