I brought back Swiffers from the US. They're like wet wipes that fit onto a stick thing (there's also dry ones, but the wet have more uses). They're great. Obviously, no substitute for scrubbing your floor, but they're just the ticket for the kinds of dusty/gritty/powdery things that are hard to sweep up. Everything sticks right to the wipe, then you pull it off and throw it in the garbage. I admit, it's not completely eco, but nothing else does it so quickly and easily (a mop gets it up, but then you spend half your time rinsing the mop and trying not to get dirt on the freshly cleaned parts).
What I don't get is why the UK doesn't have them! The Swiffer global site has links for France, Switzerland, Spain, Germany, Austria, Italy, Belgium, and the Netherlands... but not the UK. Come on P&G! Am I going to have to go to Calais to get more of these? ;-)
(Other idea that MUST come to the UK: Ziploc bags with the plastic slide-to-seal tab, instead of the old-style press-to-seal. Such a simple idea, yet I've never seen it here.)
