Well, I was wrong: she won't be ready early. She hasn't shown any interest in our food, and today I tried giving her a little fingertipful of potato. I think she may have swallowed a little but most of it came back, so she doesn't think she's missing out on anything.

Frankly I'm just as happy to try again in a few weeks, especially as we're off to Devon next weekend--much easier not worrying about feeding her anything other than milk :-)

(the only thing they don't have is the imse vimse paper liners, which are the best of the ones i tried--when I need more I'll have to order direct from Imse Vimse).

Oh, Imse Vimse also make really cute swim nappies with matching tankini tops so it's like the baby is wearing a real swimsuit :)

I am FUMING at Parcelforce (and the USPS).

I posted myself a bunch of extra diapers, and while I was at it, some extra groceries. The first sting came with the new USPS airmail rates. Priority Mail is now the cheapest route! It's ludicrously expensive now--I can wave goodbye to shipping from any non-major US shopping site :-(

First of all, I posted this on 9 June. Priority Mail MY ASS--I got it today. 13 days. The old Air Parcel Post was faster than that.

Second, and this is where I'm fuming at Parcelforce, they got the box wet. Do they not have enough sense to keep cardboard boxes dry? It was on the verge of collapsing when I got it. The moisture got through and made a bag of cornmeal (I should have put it in a Ziploc, I should know by now about handling anything powdery) rip. Result is one godawful mess, and I'll have to re-wash all the dipes. And clean the living room floor. Yeah, I'm an idiot for not shipping things properly. Parcelfarce are still idiots for not handling boxes correctly.

(At least I didn't lose anything valuable, if I really really want some more cornmeal I can get my sister to mail me some. I left my black beret there anyway.)

I KNEW I should have just found a smaller box and brought it as extra luggage... I didn't because we had so much stuff already.
