For fun, I tried using a flat diaper.

Doing an origami fold was pretty easy (the only trick was that the Green Mountain flats I have aren't perfectly square--they're excellent quality fabric but shrink to a slightly rectangular shape).

However, trying to get a good fit on a squirmy baby (Aliza absolutely refuses to relax her legs and stubbornly insists on doing froggy legs the whole time) is impossible. Doubly so when you're using Dritz pins (you're not supposed to use Snappis/Nippas on twill flats).

I have a new appreciation for women who cloth-diapered in the old days (admittedly, prefolds were invented in the 1940s and they involve much less folding).
