The incoming flight crew was late, so we boarded late. Then we missed our take-off slot. Eventually we took off at 17:30 (scheduled time 16:00). Aliza was sitting with me and she was fine (although the safety belt for infants is daft, basically it's a loop hooked onto the adult belt!) She didn't seem to notice the take-off.
She cried a bit during the flight but mostly she was fine--although she wasn't keen on the bassinet as it was too high up and she couldn't see. I had her for most of the flight; Neil took her for a while. She did get fussed over by the flight attendants :) Upper class is great. Swivel TVs, flat bed (so comfy!), edible food... the flight does still drag but at least your rear end doesn't go numb.
We got into JFK, the a/c in terminal 4 wasn't working :( got our baggage and got the car. We'd booked a midsize, decided we really wanted a full size, and went for an upgrade. After being offered an SUV at the fullsize cost only to discover there was no car in the assigned spot, we ended up with a Mazda 5 which is actually a mini-MPV--great! With the back 2 seats folded there was tons of room.
Aliza was very fussy last night and ended up with us--a tight squeeze but better than getting up every 4 minutes. She woke up at 5, got fed, back to bed, up at 8:30. Not too bad. I left her with my parents while I went to the bakery; apparently she was very cranky at first but by the time we got back she was sleeping on my dad's chest.
Off to buy a camera shortly, I think :-)
