LibraryThing

Just added all my books to LibraryThing.com (a slow process--I COULD have exported my books from Bookpedia and imported them but the queue for Amazon lookups is up to 31 hours!! So I copied them all in. All 664 of them. I'm trying to work out why I have 669 books in Bookpedia and 664 in LibraryThing...

2 things come to mind:
1) I have fewer books than I thought I had. All those years of student/unemployed poverty ;-)
2) I bought a lot of crappy books when I was in high school. I should bin the Anne Rice out of shame.

(One niggle: Because I don't have the actual books handy in some cases, I have to search by title, and get the latest paperback edition, with hideous cover, instead of the decent hardbacks I actually own. Pah.)

If you want to find me on there, it's the usual username. :-)

Got a reply from London Buses

Basically, single buggies can't go on at the back--if they don't fit down the aisle they have to be folded. My reaction is that this policy was clearly devised by someone who hasn't used buggies very often. It's a perfectly good idea when you have a lightweight stroller and a toddler. I'd like to see them manage it with an infant and a 2-piece buggy.

Meh. Pointless policy if you ask me, what harm does it do to let buggies go in at the back, directly into the buggy area??

Forgot to mention

London buses DID give me a free packet of Saver Tickets.

Also, totally unrelated: a few months ago I lost the USB wire for my iPod and had to get a new one. Today I found it. It was in the back of one of my dresser drawers. WTF?! How did it get there? Why did I put it in with my T-shirts? I baffle myself sometimes.

For non-Brits

new Skoda advert - it's great )

There's also a "Baking Of" documentary at http://www.newfabia.co.uk (along with a copy of the ad, but I can't get a direct link as it's all in Flash)

I am a mean mean wife

I just sent Neil an e-mail asking him to stop at Boots and get me women's stuff... a man's favourite thing to get!

(I walked right past it in Waitrose. Doh. At least Boots is right opposite Angel station so it's not a detour. It's just embarrassing.)

grrr.

It's bad enough that someone posts scare stories about the evils of microwaved food (on a parenting site)

it's unbelievable when they link to a story from a conspiracy-theory site that includes anti-Jewish conspiracy theories and Holocaust revisionism. :-(

I'm not going to post the link. I've seen worse, but it doesn't need any more publicity.

ETA: Original poster removed the link and apologised for not checking the source properly. Phew.
