Yes, you will get NYC or Northeastern. This is because 1) it has no way of differentiating foreigners and 2) because of the criteria they use. Basically, the quiz relies on American vowel mergers. The British differentiate the same vowel sounds that New Yorkers do. They don't always differentiate them in the same way (the short o of British "coffee" is not the "aw" sound of New York, but it's not the "ah" of other American accents either). But since that short o doesn't exist in American English, the quiz has no way of seeing the difference.
