I'm not sure who to blame, so I'll blame them both.

The first fault was Specsavers, who didn't realise they needed me to get my old prescription off Boots (why they just couldn't examine me for a new one instead of basing it on my old one, I don't know. And I had my glasses with me as well.)

Second time, who knows: B&L said they went out, they never turned up. Specsavers re-ordered.

I got a call saying that they were in and went to pick them up. They hand me a box. One box. I look twice to make sure they haven't started mixing the lenses in one box--nope. Guess what, turned out B&L had only sent the right ones. :-( (I can't be sure that someone at Specsavers didn't screw up the order, so I'm hesitant to blame B&L.) So they have to get the left ones re-ordered.

This has taken like a month, and I'm still wearing my old lenses. They're monthly disposables. :-(

Gah. I switched from Boots because they were so damn inconvenient (I still have no idea WHY the regular optometrist can't do contact lens fittings, but this whole alternate Wednesday thing is a joke. Especially since they don't just let you pick them up--you need a 2nd pickup appointment. What the hell?)

One annoyance I've had with Pampers is the sizing. Aliza grew out of size 2, but size 3 were too big. Here are the UK sizes:
1: 4 - 11 lbs
2: 6 - 13 lbs
3: 9 - 20 lbs
4: 15 - 40 lbs
4+: 20 - 44 lbs
(also 5 and 5+)

(Hmm, this is odd!! I got the size 3 "Baby-Dry" ones: 9 - 20 lbs. But I've just discovered, and I wish I'd known this BEFORE, that size 3 "New Baby" are 9 - 15 lbs, which is a more sensible range. I was using the size 2 Baby Dry, IIRC.) Sizes 1-3 are available in New Baby, 2-5+ in "Baby Dry", and 3-5+ in "Active Fit" (as far as I can tell, the last are aimed at babies who are moving around... why they need so many ranges I don't know..)

Now, here are the US sizes (I noticed a discrepancy when I went looking on US sites so I could order some things and have them sent to my mother's--easier to have a pack of diapers waiting for us right? And she doesn't have a bottle steriliser and ours is mains-powered as well as large so we can't bring it):

N: up to 10 lbs
1: 8 - 14 lbs
2: 12 - 18 lbs
3: 16 - 28 lbs
4: 22 - 37 lbs
5: 27+ lbs
(also 6)

Improvements in the US system: Consistency across ranges, no weird plus sizes. I looked and Huggies UK use different sizes so it's not as if they're conforming to a standard.
