Aliza loves being put on her changing mat. She isn't necessarily keen on having her diapers or her clothes changed, but she loves the mat. She could be fussing up a storm, and within 15 seconds of being put down, she's stretching, smiling and cooing. Only the changing mat will do it. She enjoys her playmat when she's calm but not when she's fussing, and while she likes stretching on the bed, it doesn't calm her like that.

It's been very warm today. We'll have to remember to get a 2nd air conditioner before it gets really hot and everyone gets the same idea ;)

or so says today's feature in the Indy. I laughed my head off. California leads in some attention grabbing ways (new laws, celebrities driving Priuses) but these are because CA has, and continues to, lead one of the least environmentally sustainable lifestyles in the US. It's a land of single family house sprawl, giant freeways, 2-3 car owning families and little to no mass transit outside San Francisco. Water is sucked up for irrigation and the resulting crops are shipped hundreds or thousands of miles.

Yep, an example for the rest of us!
