The woman she thought could help me is ill, and the other is out of the country. It seems there's very little market for private lactation consultants in the UK--most of them do NHS work.
She did give me some advice and said I could try domperidone, but that it might not work for me--if I haven't got any prolactin to begin with it won't help. Still, it's non-prescription in this country so it's worth a try (you have to ask the pharmacist). Only annoying part is that it comes in packs of 10 10mg tablets and the dose for breastfeeding is quite high, so it could get annoying and expensive! Still, it's worth a shot. She also recommended fenugreek and blessed thistle--unfortunately, the latter is not available in the UK! It's almost a shame my sisters are here--I could send Carly to the health food shop. Jen will be going back this weekend but she's terribly unreliable at sending things.
I was relieved to hear I am doing things right by pumping and putting her to the breast (but taking her off when she gets frustrated, so she doesn't associate the two), and not using a teat. Hey, I'm doing my best, nothing else to be done is there?
Aliza's looking cute again though so I'll take a photo of her and her Daddy in a bit :-) She is getting so spoilt from my family being here, she's barely spent any time in her basket as they all want to cuddle her! Jen's all broody. Carly prefers being an auntie because she can ignore the diapers ;-)
