Weird!

Last night, I was sitting on the sofa when I heard a strange noise behind me. I turned and saw that the bowl of one of my candlesticks had cracked and broken--apparently from the heat of the candle!

Of course, this means I now have to buy new ones :-( This should probably be a lesson to just get a nice silver pair and be done with it, but that's not in the budget. I can't bear the thought of trudging around trying to find a nice set (the selection of Judaica here isn't brilliant) so it's online shopping for me.

In better news, I made a giant batch of latkes tonight and they were yummy and it was SO nice not having to grate the potatoes by hand :-) (Actually, I think hand grating does produce slightly superior results as the shreds are flatter, but it's not enough for me to rub my knuckles raw.) Neil enjoyed them too. :-)

NHS even better

According to the local rag, Watford General Hospital has now cut ALL antenatal classes. No wonder the NCT is so overloaded! (Hertsmere [Borehamwood/Elstree/etc, which is partly in Barnet & District NCT] is split between Watford and Barnet hospitals... and Barnet only do weekday afternoon classes now, making them useless for a lot of people)
