OK, I wasn't actually enthused about the Democratic Party this year--the campaign was very heavily "the other people just suck"--but hey, you need to take your pleasure where you can find it. And really, the GOP swallowed its own hubris.
Now, if the Democrats could start pressing for redistricting reform--AND present it in a bipartisan way, rather than "we just want to keep the other side from gerrymandering". I think that in the long term, fair and nonpartisan congressional districts would benefit everyone. As the GOP learnt this year, the voters toss you out eventually, and then the other side gets to do the same thing.
BTW, I was pleased to see that the little craphead Pombo lost his seat after 7 terms. He proposed selling off 1/4 of the national park system, supported ANWR drilling, took money from Jack Abramoff (that shanda fur de goyim) and did some very dubious deals with developers. This was a guy who got 61% of the vote in 2004! (Unfortunately for him, the movement of lefties from the Bay Area has changed the demographics in his district...)
