There's nothing like a long hot shower when you just feel gross (don't know why I did; just woke up feeling that way).

I've stopped burping all the time. I kind of miss it now; it was surprisingly satisfying at times. The baby has developed a nice range of movements, and like its mother, is a nocturnal creature. Other than that I'm still plowing along nicely. I think I'm starting to look pregnant, instead of just (even) fat(ter). I am becoming (even more) forgetful and (even more) klutzy. Plates are not safe in my hands. I've nearly broken two this week. Luckily I caught them before they crashed to the floor.

Hospital check-up tomorrow; let's hope it doesn't take all day this time :P Icky horrible glucose tolerance test next week.

New version's scanning seems suspect: it can NEVER find the title. If I type the ISBN in, it's fine.

(Recent books, cascade starts with amazon.co.uk, etc)

Neil went to John Lewis (home of the 28 day no-questions-asked return policy ;) ) and bought a new Freeview box. Turns out that, as expected, the old box which didn't get 50% of the channels was an unreliable POS. The nice new one gets all the channels perfectly. (I was sure of it. We live in Finchley, for goodness' sakes, not the Scottish Highlands.)

Not quite as good as Sky or cable (as a devoted Simpsons fan, I miss Sky One!) but a huge improvement over the basic 5 channels.

I decided to rename our network. After all, both our machines died on the old naming scheme. I'm not saying it's cursed, but maybe they deserve new names?

The new theme is The Simpsons. Neil rejected my proposal to name the router/network ID "742 Evergreen Terrace", so it's the rather more boring "Springfield". My laptop is Marge; my phone is Lisa. The backup drive is not yet renamed. Neil's will be Homer and Bart if he ever gets round to it ;) I suggested he name his Palm "Smithers" but he said "my PDA is not homosexual!"

(I refrained from making a joke about the similarities between Homer and PCs...)

Meanwhile, the little remote with the MacBook Pro is quite cool. I set the laptop up a few feet down on the table and watched some ER DVDs while peeling/slicing vegetables. I like watching TV when I'm doing repetitive chores like that.

for those who haven't seen it:

OK, it's Jabber, so another client to use... but convenient enough if, like me, you use a multi-protocol client ;) Reasonably nifty implementation--automatically adds all your LJ friends.
