Our current number is 8343 xxxx. I thought we might be able to keep it, even though we're moving exchanges (from North Finchley to Finchley) because 343 is really a Finchley number anyway.

BT says no. What's our new number?

Number portability, what's that then? (The technology certainly exists; my grandmother kept her old number when she moved)
