Shrinking stomach

For the past few days, I've gotten full very quickly, and if I overdo it, I feel really ill. Unfortunately, I don't think my overall caloric needs have shrunk, so I keep feeling hungry at random times. Mind you, I had dinner at 19:30, it wasn't a huge amount (leftover eggplant parmigiana, no spaghetti with it or anything) and the idea of eating is still repulsive. And here I thought your appetite/stomach was supposed to get better again after the first trimester... (I'm officially 13 weeks today).

(Oh, and my temporary ability to fall asleep early and stay asleep has gone. Oh well, was nice knowing you.)

Although really, I've had it pretty easy. I've mostly been eating like normal--no major puking, no weird tastes. I've been a bit tired, but hey, with me that's no surprise. I'm not in a rage or crying or being bitchy (ok, more bitchy than normal. I've had a lot of cramps, but they're more annoying than painful and I seem to be very sensitive when it comes to them--I get cramps when I ovulate!)

(I assume this is pregnancy, hence the tag. Could be coincidence I suppose)

:(

My uncle's dog Murphy is dying--he has cancer all through his body :-( He only has a couple of days left. :-(

Poor dog--he was such a good boy. My uncle got him while he was living with us, so I knew him really well. He's a huge goldie; when he stands on his hind legs, he can put his paws on your shoulders and lick your face.

He's 11 now, which isn't a bad age for a purebred golden, but it's 2 years younger than Abby. I feel bad.

(Although my mother scared me--when she said "I have really bad news" I was expecting something more serious. It's bad news, to be sure, but she made it sound like it was my grandma [G-d forbid!!!])

A few notes

1) A stick blender, rather than a jug blender, really isn't ideal for making ice-cream shakes, as the densest component is on the bottom. Worked OK in the end though.

2) The extra chocolate bits in Haagen-Dazs Belgian Chocolate (as opposed to the regular chocolate I'd use in the US) makes it a bit too chocolatey. But still more than drinkable ;)

3) Fox's U-Bet is still the king of chocolate syrups. Still feels weird to get it in a squeeze bottle, though. I remember when it came in jars, and you'd get a pump attachment.

(Shame I don't have a seltzer siphon, then I could have an egg-cream!)

Too much time on their hands

Yet another example of how some people have too much time on their hands, and that many of these people spend too much time on Wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heavy_metal_umlaut

(It was linked from the article on Haagen-Dazs. I must admit I do browse wikipedia quite a bit: it's just got so much random information!)
