Some chef has come up with Celery Pudding Cake (recipe linked as well, should you be curious and/or insane).

Though I find the accompaniment of strawberry-rhubarb compote interesting: it's a very American combination, and the chef is Italian.

(I was reading some junk rag in the supermarket, found something about this and googled it when I got back).

I'm nothing short of incensed, though it's what I expect from the RCM--they proposed charging for epidurals. Why is it that we don't expect anyone else to have to suffer in pain, but in childbirth it's a "bonding experience"? And don't give me the "women have always done it" argument. Like I said about home births--people used to die too. Why shouldn't a woman be able to give birth comfortably?

When it comes to childbirth, we have the most ludicrous notions--that somehow pain is ennobling, that we have to suffer. And worse, it's something women impose on other women.

When it comes time for me, I'll be having the injection, thank you.
