We survived. We even found decent parking! (Although we were at the Brent Cross end, where parking is somewhat easier to find.) Kosher Kingdom was crazy--understandably so as they claim to have the biggest Pesach selection in London. They certainly had quite a lot--they'd even opened up the warehouse part in back (the effect was Kosher Costco).
They had parsley root! (Luckily I know the Yiddish name, petrushka, as that's how it was labelled.) So my soup will be extra-good. :) And I remembered to get the horseradish there.
So now I'm stocked up on the staples. I have to go back to the butcher Wednesday morning, as we don't have room for another chicken in our tiny fridge, and I have to get some fresh things. More eggs, of course. I'll be going through eggs like water.
Tentative menu:
1st night:
Chicken soup
Brisket with onion gravy
potato kugel
(some kind of vegetable--help me think of one, can't use peas or beans)
Sponge cake and fruit
2nd night:
Chicken soup
Roast chicken
Roast potatoes
Carrots
rest of sponge cake and fruit
Which leaves plenty of leftovers for snacking :-)
I might try a sweet potato kugel this year if I can find a good recipe (nothing promising so far. I do not like raisins in kugel.)
