Our exchange was ADSL Max enabled as of yesterday. BT Wholesale ADSL checker confirms we're capable (6.5 - 8Mbps--no s**t sherlock, we're about 500m from the exchange).
BT Internet knows nuffink. Not that their website is any damn use anyway if you're a customer: it redirects to bt.yahoo.com. Useful for your mailbox; not so good for product. The Your Account -> Product -> Upgrade Info link is still about the 2Mbps changes they did LAST YEAR!
Our exchange is enabled for ADSL2 from bethere (up to 24Mbps) but Neil doesn't want to switch. (Nothing to do with price; it's actually slightly cheaper. He's just wary of switching.)
I want high speed internet damn it! (Actually, what I want is more the upload speed. We're still stuck at 256kbps, which is really crap and very easy to saturate. I think the ADSL Max is at least 512k.)
