Too absent-minded to live

My ability to forget things (and lose various ordinary items, a related problem) is unsurpassed. I can remember the most arcane facts, yet I am unable to remember where I put something I was using 5 minutes ago.

Lest you think this is solely due to the state of complete disorganisation in which I live (certain classes of objects are organised in a near-obsessive manner, but the rest are left to their own devices), I shall present you with an example from the other day. I had to change attachments on the Dyson. I did so, used the new one (hard floor tool) and went back for the carpet-cleaning head. I couldn't find it. I looked all over the flat. Finally, I found it: on the chair. I've surpassed that one though: the best was the time I couldn't find a comb I was holding.

This peculiar memory problem of mine also means that I can repeat stories, comments and questions and be completely unaware that I already told them a week or a month ago.

I'd like to put it down to old age, but the fact is that at school I was called "Alexis the Absent-Minded Professor".

This edit brought to you by the fact that I would like to watch a DVD, but I can't find the DVD remote.

*yawns*

Spent day in bed with headache. I've just been fabulously lazy and ordered the majority of the groceries from Ocado (shame the earliest I could get was Tuesday morning--but I can get tomorrow night's dinner myself and this will save me from lugging back so much).

Oh yes, the "funny feeling" has turned into a cold. Only a mild one, though.
