So yesterday we replaced the router. The old one categorically refused to route connections via the Internet. The cable modem worked fine when connected via Ethernet. The router refused to give out IP addresses. You could connect via wireless, but your connections wouldn't go on.
We get the new router, set it up, all is working. This morning, same problem. At first we thought it was a cable modem fluke (DNS down or something) but I'm sure it's not: I'm currently using the neighbours' wireless internet, and they're on the same ISP.
OK, just went upstairs to look at it. This time, it's NOT working when plugged directly into the PC. In fact, the modem is not lit up correctly and when I tried to reset it, it blinked and went into standby. So we need to go exchange the modem, I think. Of course, can't do that on Sunday.
My mother accused us of breaking the Internet and said "your dad needs that for work, it's not just play!" Luckily he's in Orlando for 2 days so we can switch the modem tomorrow. Absolutely no idea why it broke all of a sudden.
