My new glasses are over .75cm thick at their thickest point.
While we're at it, trying to keep my eyes rested (as recommended by the optometrist) is BORING. There are approximately 2 activities I can do without contacts or glasses: listening to music and sleeping.
(Fun test: I just did a sheet of paper with the same sentence written on it in varying type sizes. I can't read 36 point Times with my glasses off, at least not at any sane distance. That should give you some idea of my capabilities. Today I took my glasses off during dinner and Neil moved anything spillable to the other side of the table. My vision may also be responsible for the final demise of the shower: I couldn't see which dial was which and cranked it up to the hottest setting.)
I haven't worn contacts since Wednesday and my eyes are still sore. Still getting used to the new glasses, too--the astigmatism correction is considerably stronger so if I look through the lenses the wrong way, everything is amusingly warped.
